Simple Chana is one of the favorite Lunch .This traditional Indian Chana Masala is made with simple ingredients easily available at home .

I have shared chana masala Recipe in step by step method with a detailed pictures below.

Wash the chickpeas and soak in a plenty of water for atleast 4-5 hours.

In a pressure cooker heat oil add curry leaves add onions saute till the color changes to transparent.

 

 

Add ginger garlic paste saute till the raw aroma of ginger garlic paste goes away.

In a blender add chopped tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, cumin powder blend to a fine puree. Add the puree to the onions.

 

Add tamarind pulp and salt cook the masala on a medium flame till the oil leaves side of the cooker.

 

Add chana pour a cup of water. Pressure cook for 3-4 whistle

As pressure released open the lid check the consistency of the gravy if watery cook the gravy till the gravy slightly thickened. Serve chana masala with steam rice.

  • 1 cup soaked chana/ chick peas
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon oil
  • 2 strands curry leaves
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • Salt as needed
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 teaspoon pepper powder
  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
