Shahi Chow Chow Recipe – Shahi Chow Chow recipe is a rich delicious in taste. Almonds and lentils are roasted in ghee mix with yogurt gives a delicious in taste.
I have shared a Shahi Chow Chow recipe in a step by step method with a detailed pictures below.
In a pressure cooker heat oil or ghee add sliced onions saute until the colour changes to slightly golden brown. Now add ginger garlic paste saute until the raw aroma goes away.
Wash and peel the skin of Chow Chow chopped the Chow Chow add them to the onions.
In a small pan add ghee or oil add Shahi jeera, almonds, chana dal, whole red chili. Saute till dal becomes golden.
Allow to cool. Add chana dal and almonds in a blender. Grind to a coarse powder.
Add the coarse powder to the Chow Chow. stir well.
Add yogurt to the Chow Chow curry. Mix well. Pour little water cover the lid and pressure cook for 1-2 whistle.
As pressure released open the lid. Check the consistency of the curry. The curry must be semi dry or dry according to your choice. If the curry is runny. Cook for another 5 minutes till the excess liquid drain. Add fresh coriander leaves. Serve Shahi Chow Chow with rice or phulka.

- 2 Chow chow/ chayote
- 1 tablespoon ghee or oil
- 1 medium size onion
- 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- Salt as needed
- 1/4 cup Yogurt
- For Roasting
- 1 tablespoon chana dal
- 4-5 almonds
- 1 teaspoon Shahi jeera
- 1-2 whole red chili
- 1/2 tsp ghee
