A traditional delicacy from south India which literally means ‘poured appam’ in Tamil. Uttapam is like Dosa made from Dosa batter ( Rice & Urad dal ) by adding extra ingredients like Onions , Green Chilies and fresh coriander leaves. Uttapam is little thicker compare to Dosa .
I have shared Uttapam recipe in step by step method with a detailed pictures below
Chopped onions, green chilies and coriander leaves .
Add them in a Dosa batter . As I have already prepared Dosa batter in advance , add Salt and baking soda mix well .

Heat Tawa and brush with Oil over it . when really hot splash a little water over it . Pour batter on it . It will spread a little . When the edges start browning a bit , Add oil around it .
As uttapam are thicker it consumes time to cook . By covering the lid will speed up the cooking process . Cook for approximately 2-3 minutes until bottom surface turns light golden brown.
Flip it gently and cook another side for a minute or until the bottom surface looks cooked.
Transfer it to a plate serve with your favorite chutney Peanut Chutney
