Dahi ghosht is a very simple and easy dish to prepare. Dahi ghosht is a thick, creamy North-Indian curry best eaten with ghee rice and The creamy curry is delicious in taste.

I have shared a simple and easy recipe of Dahi Ghosht Gravy in a step by step method with a detailed pictures below.

Inserve with any chutney, of your choice. a pressure cooker heat oil add cinnamon sticks,bay leaf and sliced onions. Saute until the onions turn golden brown. Take a handful of golden brown onions to a bowl for later use.

Now add ginger garlic paste saute till the raw aroma of ginger garlic paste goes away.

To make a paste we need onions, almond, green chillies, red chilli and shahi jeera.

Add the above ingredients in a blender. Blend it coarsely. Add a spoon of yogurt to blend it to a fine paste.

Add the paste to the onions mixture. Stir well.

Now add turmeric powder and salt to it.

In a blender add yogurt blend it once. As no lumps appear in a yogurt. Pour it to the gravy . Cook for 5 minutes on a low flame.

Pour half a cup of water. Cover the lid . Pressure cook for 4_5 whistle or until the mutton gets tender. As pressure released serve the gravy in a bowl garnish with ginger and golden brown onions serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 gm mutton
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 4_5 medium size onions
  • 7_8 almonds or cashew
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 whole red chilli
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2_3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • Salt as needed

INSTRUCTIONS

  • In a blender add thick yogurt blend it once and pour in a gravy. Cook for 5 minutes on a low flame.
  • Pour little water. Cover the lid pressure  cook for 4_5 whistles or until the mutton gets tender.
  • As the pressure drops open the lid check the consistency of the gravy. Thickened the gravy for a delicious taste.
  • Serve hot. Garnish with ginger and fried onions. It is best served with ghee rice.
