Fish is one of the favorite seafood at home. The traditional fish curry with no coconut or coconut milk prepared easily and quickly with a bit spices taste delicious.

In a deep bottom pan heat oil add sprig of curry leaves when it stop spluttering add sliced onions saute till golden brown.

Grind garlic cloves, red chilli powder, coriander powder, Cumin powder, pepper powder, Turmeric powder.

Grind above all spices with tomatoes to a fine smooth paste.

Add the above paste to the onions stir well. Cook until oil separates in side of a pan.

Add tamarind pulp to the gravy.

Add fish to the gravy pour a cup of water. Cover the lid and cook until fish is done.

Serve the fish curry with a steam rice.

INGREDIENTS :

  • oil 1 tbsp
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • Onion sliced 1
  • Tomatoes 3
  • Redchilli powder 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Garlic cloves 6_7
  • Tamarind pulp 1 tbsp
  • Salt as needed

INSTRUCTIONS :

  • In a deep bottom pan heat oil add sprig of curry leaves when it stop spluttering add sliced onions saute till golden brown add salt mix well.
  • Grind garlic cloves, red chilli powder, coriander powder, Cumin powder, pepper powder, Turmeric powder and tomatoes to a fine smooth paste.
  • Add to the curry stir well.
  • Add tamarind pulp to the gravy finally add fish. Pour a cup of water cover the lid and cook until the fish is done.
  • Serve the fish curry with a steam rice.
