Baked Thangri kabab | Baked Chicken Drumsticks


Thangri kebab/ spiced Chicken Drumsticks are grilled to juicy perfection in the oven. Soft,juicy and delicious yougurt marinated Chicken Thangri kebabs make great appetizers, side or main for dinner.These are succulent grilled chicken usually served in Indian restaurant with a tangy green chutney.

In a deep bottom pan add Ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and turmeric powder.

Add thick yogurt, oil.

In a blender add fresh coriander leaves,mint leaves and green chillies blend to a fine paste.

Add the above paste to the masala.

Cut the chicken in to slits in the centre marinate the chicken for atleast an hour.

Place the chicken in a baking tray apply butter on top.

Pre heat oven for 180 degree for 10 minutes. Bake the chicken for 20 minutes till it’s gold and charred.


  • 12 Chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 20 gms butter
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves
  • 4 green chillies
  • 1 cup thick yogurt
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 tsp chat masala powder


  • Wash and clean the chicken drumsticks pat chicken dry with a paper towel.With a sharp knife ,make a couple of deep slits on either side of each drumstick.
  • Mix all the other kebab ingredients in a large kadai.Drop drumsticks in and turn to coat liberally with the marinade. Cover and rest for an hour or refrigerate.
  • Partly cook the chicken on stove top for an easy process of can skip the partly cook method and directly bake in oven.
  • Pre heat the oven to 200 the chicken drumsticks on the tray or rack without touching each other. Apply butter on top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes ,flip the Chicken drumsticks and bake for another 10 minutes till golden and lightly charred.
  • Serve Thangri kebab warm with naan breads, or biryani along with chutney .


Used medium size drumsticks. The baking time will vary if you are using small or large pieces.

Partly cook the chicken on stove top is to reduce cooking time and its a easy process.It taste delicious and juicy inside.

The Chicken drumsticks can also be cooked on an outdoor grill.
