Dalcha Curry Recipe | Ambur Style Dalcha

Dalcha – A dal is cooked with mutton and mix vegetable serve as a side dish for Biryani.

I have shared dalcha recipe in step by step method with a detailed pictures below.

Wash dal and Soak chana dal for 2 hours.  In a pressure cooker add chana  dal, turmeric powder and mutton pieces pressure cook until the dal are tenderized.

Reduce the steam of the cooker mash dal. pour dal in another container.

In the same pressure cooker heat oil add cinnamon stick, add saute onions till the color changes transparent.  Add ginger garlic paste saute till the raw aroma goes away.

Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, tamarind pulp, green chilies and coriander powder.Stir well.

Add tomato puree and salt. cook for few minutes.

Pour the dal into the onion mixture. Add bottle gourd and brinjal. Pressure cook for 1 whistle.

Add bottle gourd and brinjal pressure cook for 1 whistle.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and mint leaves.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup chana dal
  • 2-3 mutton pieces
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 medium size onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp tamarind pulp
  • 2 tbsp. fresh coriander leaves and mint leaves

INSTRUCTION

  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and mint leaves.
