Badam Halwa is a rich and delicious recipe made using almond puree, saffron, sugar and milk. Cook only till it is of a semi thick consistency otherwise it is hard to eat since it will be dry.
I have shared a delicious badam Halwa recipe with a few ingredients in a step by step method with a detailed pictures below.
In a saucepan boil water add almonds bring to a boil. Remove from the heat. Allow to cool.
Peel off the almond skin, transfer them to the grinder, add granuled sugar, cardamom, saffron and milk. Grind to a fine puree.
Heat ghee in a thick bottom vessel or saucepan.Transfer the almond paste . Stir in a medium heat.
The entire mixture turns gooey . continue cooking stirring often. Add ghee in frequent intervals.
Badam halwa will begins to leave side of the pan. Remove from the heat. garnish with chopped almonds.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup Almonds/ badam
- 3/4 cup granule sugar
- 3-4 tbsp. ghee
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cardamom
- 10-12 strands saffron
INSTRUCTIONS

- Add badam to a grinder, add saffron, sugar, milk, cardamom grind to a fine puree.
- In a thick bottom vessel heat ghee add almond puree. Stir well.
- The entire mixture turns gooey . continue cooking stirring often. Add ghee in frequent intervals.
- Badam halwa will begins to leave side of the pan. Remove from the heat. garnish with chopped almonds.
Recipe note
- Do not over soak the almonds , otherwise Halwa will be sticky.
- The consistency of the halwa must be semi dry with a soft texture to melt in a mouth.
- For variation you can add Mawa or khoya towards end.
