Thepla is a flat flavored bread recipe most popular and healthy gujrathi cuisine. It is made from wheat flour, chickpea flour, fenugreek leaves. You can make a variation of thepla ingredients like millet flour, jowar flour (sorghum), grated bottle gourd can be used. Adding curd with chickpea flour will make soft theplas.
I have shared the thepla recipe in step by step method with a detailed pictures below.
In a mixing bowl add wheat flour and chickpea flour.
Add red chili powder, salt and turmeric powder.
Add fresh fenugreek leaves or dry fenugreek leaves.
Add Yogurt.
Pour required water to knead perfect dough. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes. Divide the small portions of the dough dust with dry flour, roll the dough thin.
Add thepla to the hot tawa. Cook on a medium heat with half cooked on the bottom, then flip it and cook until golden brown spots appear on both the sides.
Serve with onion raita or plain curd and pickle.

- 1 tsp turmeric powder
