Cauliflower or Gobi Manchurian is one of the most popular vegetarian manchurian dish from Indian Chinese cuisine. Fried Cauliflower in slightly sour, sweet and hot manchurian sauce.
I have shared step by step method to prepare a cauliflower Manchurian with detailed pictures.
Clean Gobi and cut the florets to medium size.In a bowl pour hot water and a pinch of turmeric powder Add Gobi and rest for 5 minutes.
In a bowl add ginger garlic paste,red chilli powder,cumin powder, black pepper powder and cornflour make a thick batter.
Add Gobi to the batter coat them well.Marinate for 30 minutes. Keep in a refrigerator.
In a kadai heat oil deep fry the cauliflower .
Meanwhile in another pan heat oil add chopped garlic,green chilli saute for 5 minutes.
Add chopped onions and spring onions saute till it changes transparent.
Add soya sauce,salt and sugar, pepper piwder,vinegar.
Drain fried Cauliflower in kitchen tissue.
Finally add green spring onions and fried Cauliflower mix gently with the sauce.
Garnish cauliflower manchurian with sesame seeds and green spring onions.
- 250 gms cauliflower florets or gobi
- 4_ 5 tbsp cornflour( corn starch)
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- 1 tsp pepper powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- For Manchurian Sauce
- 1 tbsp garlic finely chopped
- 1 green chilli chopped finely
- 1/3 cup onions and spring onions finely chopped
- 1 tbsp soya sauce
- 1/2 tbsp veniegar
- 1 tbsp tomato sauce
- 3/4 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp pepper powder
- Salt as needed
- Clean Gobi and cut the florets to medium size.Drain completely until no moisture remains on the gobi
- In a bowl add hot water and a pinch of turmeric powder. soak the cauliflower and rest for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl add ginger garlic paste,red chilli powder,cumin powder, pepper powder,salt and cornflour,plain flour make a thick batter add cornflour coat them well.
- Keep in a refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a wide kadai fry cauliflower in batches. Drain them to a kitchen tissues.
- Meanwhile in another pan add oil chopped garlic and green chillies saute fir a minute or two.
- Add chopped spring onions and onions saute till onions changes transparent.
- Add soya sauce, salt,sugar,vinegar,black pepper powder,red chilli powder.
- Add tomato ketchup stir well.
- Turn off the stove and check the taste. The sauce has to be slightly sour,sweet,and hot.
- Add the fried Cauliflower and stir.
- Garnish gobi Manchurian with green spring onions and sesame seeds.serve immediately.
